I walked into CrossFit in November 2015, and was hooked after being insulted by “Barbara”

(Benchmark CrossFit Workout "Five rounds, each for time of:
20 Pull-ups
30 Push-ups
40 Sit-ups
50 Squats
Rest precisely three minutes between each round.)

The bare bones and simplicity of the gym spoke to me, and the no mirror and egos was something I could get behind and support. Since I started coaching, I have been motivated by the camaraderie of individuals working together and that fact that no matter the level, they are all going through the same thing together. I really enjoy coaching mobility and helping individuals move better. Coaching at CrossFit Mountain Island allows me to share the lifestyle that has completely changed my life, learn from others, and make bonds that I know will last a lifetime.

As a coach, there is a lot I don’t know, and truth be told, I will never know it all. Coaching snatch complexes and muscle ups may be challenging but one thing will always remain true, I will be resilient in demanding each athlete to push themselves mentally and physically. The progress that occurs on the journey when limits are stretched is one of the most amazing things I’ll ever experience.

P.S.-It’s much more than muscle ups and snatches.

I was introduced to CrossFIt in 2012, when I was still an avid runner. Running was something that I somewhat enjoyed, but mostly did in order to “manage my weight”.
CrossFit introduced me to a completely new insight in terms of body composition and a healthy lifestyle. I love the sport because I am a competitive person, but also because of the support and community that surrounds you.
I became a Coach in 2015 when I realized how much I wanted to share the knowledge I had been given over the past couple of years. The most rewarding moments are those times that I say or give a different tactical cue, and the athlete has a light bulb moment.
Before CrossFit, I didn’t have much of a fitness background. Over the last 6 years I have become much more aware of how to live a healthy lifestyle through fitness, nutrition, and having a solid community to learn from. Coaching at CrossFit Mountain Island allows me to share this lifestyle and passion to educate others.

I'm 24 years old and I was born and raised on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC, in a small town called Indian Land, SC. Growing up, I was overweight, didn’t play many sports and led a very sedentary lifestyle. At the age of 16, I knew I was overweight and had a lifestyle problem. Over the course of about 12 months, I changed my diet, started exercising and lost 60 pounds and have since kept it off. During the last few years, I’ve completely immersed myself in health and wellness as well as nutrition and exercise studies, which I still practice to this day.
